Classic Moments in Zambia: Our fight with Mutoka River, 2009

So after a presentation at Yale, I need a little intellectual balance.

This was the stupidest decision of my life. I was so confident that we’d drive right through it, that I even got it on film 🙂 So now we can all laugh at me together!

We were on our way to the only traditional potter in the area so Sari could meet her, and there was only one thing in our way, the MUTOKA RIVER. It had been exceptionally rainy the past few days, and so the riverbed which runs dry for most of the year, was what you might say hydrologically active.

I think my testosterone was flowing more, though, and it got to my head.

I think the photos tell the rest of the story fine. Thank God we got out!
